Richard Burnoski articles
After a stellar career as an All-State football player and wrestler at University Christian School in Jacksonville, Florida, Burnoski went on to become an Athletic/Academic All-American running back at Eastern Oregon University where he was the offensive team captain in 1996. After pursuing his childhood dream of playing professional football Burnoski decided to give back the game of football by becoming a high school football coach at Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida. At 27 years old Burnoski became the youngest Head Coach in the state of Florida at the largest classification.
During his high school coaching tenure, Burnoski led MHS to three consecutive state top 10 rankings, placed 34 players in the collegiate ranks, and had five high school All-Americans. Burnoski was selected as a coach for the Florida Shrine Bowl in 2001, 2002, and 2003, and was crowned the FACA District Coach of the Year in 2001. Burnoski was also a guest coach in 2004 Army American Bowl. Burnoski left MHS in 2004 as the winningest coach in school history.
In 2004 Burnoski was one of the few coaches to be hired by a Division I-A football program straight out of high school when Middle Tennessee Head Football Coach Andy McCollum hired him as an assistant defensive line coach. Burnoski made his presence felt in a big way in 2005 by signing highly touted players out of the state of Florida. McCollum wasted no time in promoting Burnoski to Recruiting Coordinator and NFL liason where he was in charge of consulting with NFL teams and scouts on a regular basis.
Better known as “Coach Bruno,” Burnoski has always been known as a players coach who put the needs of his players first. That is why it was no surprise that when approached by some of his players Burnoski gave up a promising career as a college football coach to represent players in their professional careers.
While coaching at MTSU Burnoski earned a Master’s Degree and applied to the NFLPA for certification as a contract advisor. Burnoski became certified through NFLPA in the summer of 2006 and with the help of an independent investor, opened Empire Sports Agency in Jacksonville, Florida! |
